Core beliefs and values
Right Value on People: At Spirit Temple Bible Church we believe all men and woman are important and valuable in the sight of God. No one is more important than another. Nobody is to be valued based on what they do in the church. We therefore strive to understand each person as an individual whom God loves and has made a part of His family.
Relationship: We believe relationship of Godly Love is the glue that holds everything together. For this reason, we strive to spend more time building and deepening sound interpersonal relationships which we believe will facilitate growth and expansion of the Kingdom of God.
Servant Leadership and Ministry: We believe a person is only qualified to lead to the degree that they are willing to serve. The motivation for all ministries within the local church should be based on principles of servanthood.
Complementary Partnerships: We believe, as a body of Christ we are called by God to complement and not to compete with each other. As a result, we endeavor to appreciate, respect, and promote each other’s gifting and calling.
Character above Gifting: We believe Godly character is to be preferred above gifting and charisma. Our conviction is that, the responsibility of carrying a gift should be well balanced with sufficient strength of character for its sustained impact and influence.
Empowering Environment: We believe in empowering individuals to realize and fully walk in their gifting and calling. Consequently, we believe the role of a leader is not to stifle individual growth but facilitate it and provide an environment conducive to it.
Responsibility and Accountability: We believe in mutual responsibility and accountability. Therefore, we believe no one should accept any responsibility they do not wish to be accountable for.
Reconciliation over Being Right: We believe reconciliation is more of God’s Heart than being right in every situation. Therefore, in as much as principles and convictions are integral parts of our relationships, we prefer to be reconciled to one another than appropriate blame when things do not work according to everyone’s expectations and plans.
Stewardship and Ownership: We believe we are joint heirs with Jesus and therefore we will have to give an account concerning how we administer the estate that God has entrusted to us; whether it is people, finances, relationships, or churches. As co-owners of all things with God, we have the responsibility to be faithful stewards who administer the estate according to God’s purpose as revealed in His Word.
I Can do Attitude is Priceless: We believe as a people of faith and with God on our side, all things are possible to us. We therefore place a high premium on the language and attitude of victory. In this light, we do not vote concerning the direction of the church, but we hear from God corporately and obey His instructions. Our attitude determines our altitude.
World Wide Vision: We believe God’s vision is global and so is ours. For this reason, we shall use every available tool to reach this world for Christ until all the families of the world are blessed. However, we also believe our global vision should be an extension of what is working in the local church. Therefore, our local congregation takes priority over all national and international ministries.
